That’s pretty silly. I took liberties with a meat is murder image of Morrissey just the other day. Perhaps I should be worried.
I wouldn’t worry about Morrissey personally; he’s looking pretty mellow these days. His licensing company though…they seem like dicks.
It will be interesting to follow this case. In the art world, if one takes another person’s picture an alter it, it’s considered a new work, ie, the work of Wayne White for instance. The saving legal grace for your cartoon manipulator might be in changing the cartoon a little when he/she changes the thought bubbles.
Sounds like those cartoons are getting removed. either there’s a strong case or Morrissey just has an aggressive licensing company 😦
