I watched Leaving Las Vegas with my parents once. And they said my very favorite part—when the characters poured vodka all over each other and made out—was actually the low point in the movie. I said I didn’t understand why, surely it was utterly magical, and why on earth did the motel manager kick them out for that? It’s just one example of the way society stigmatizes alcoholism instead of celebrating it.
